Integrate VCI Protection Directly into Your Packaging

TRUGUARD BIO VCI Masterbatch is a bio-based, high-performance anti-corrosion additive designed for use with both ferrous and most non-ferrous metals. It incorporates volatile corrosion inhibitor (VCI) compounds with controlled vapor pressure and migration properties, enabling the release of active anti-corrosion molecules from polymer films into the surrounding air. This vapor-phase action effectively protects packaged metals from corrosion.

When extruded with polyethylene resin, the VCI masterbatch enables the production of films that combine the mechanical strength of polyethylene with the corrosion-inhibiting properties of VCI technology. It is supplied in a neutral color, and customized film colors can be achieved by blending with color masterbatches.

TRUGUARD BIO VCI Masterbatch is free from secondary amines and nitrites, and fully complies with REACH, RoHS, and TRGS 615 regulations. Films produced using this masterbatch pass key industry-standard tests — including German TL, Razor Blade Test, VIA Test, and Salt Spray Test — ensuring proven and long-lasting protection against corrosion.

This masterbatch is synthesized using TRUGUARD’s proprietary bio-based VCI formulation and engineered for seamless integration into plastics manufacturing.

  • High-performance VCI technology embedded into polyethylene (PE) materials
  • Combines the mechanical properties of PE resin with the corrosion-inhibiting performance of VCI compounds
  • Dual-action protection through contact and vapor-phase corrosion inhibitors
  • Compatible with various plastic processing methods, including:
    • Monolayer and multilayer blown film extrusion
    • Cast film extrusion
    • Extrusion coating
  • Stable and efficient VCI vapor release ensures consistent and long-term protection
  • Polyethylene packaging materials can be produced in different VCI concentrations depending on the final product design — using the same TRUGUARD BIO VCI Masterbatch formulation tailored to specific application needs
