Protective Basics

01

What is Corrosion?

Corrosion is the gradual degradation of metal surfaces due to environmental factors such as water, oxygen or humidity. It most commonly appears as rust.

02

What is VCI Technology?

VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) is a technology that protects metals from corrosion. VCI products release vapor-phase inhibitors that migrate through the air and form a thin, invisible molecular layer on metal surfaces. This layer blocks moisture and oxygen, preventing them from reacting with the metal and causing corrosion.

03

What is Moisture Damage and How Does it Occur?

Moisture damage occurs when water vapor enters or condenses inside packaging, leading to problems such as corrosion on metal surfaces or mold, rot, and degradation in organic materials like paper, textiles, or food. It is a common risk in poorly sealed or improperly stored products.

04

What Do Desiccants Do?

Desiccants are materials that adsorb or absorb moisture from the air inside a package. By reducing humidity levels, they help keep the internal environment dry and protect products from moisture-related damage such as corrosion, mold, or spoilage.

05

Why is Protection Necessary?

Absolutely. Corrosion and moisture damage cause more than just physical harm—they can lead to financial losses, production delays, and damage to brand reputation, making effective protection essential.
